Many of my patients arrive at their first consultation only having recently discovered that there are options to address painful or unsightly concerns involving their labial and vaginal areas. They may have suffered in silence for years, or even decades, enduring emotional and physical pain. Whether these issues stem from birth, pregnancy, age, or genitourinary problems, most women lack an advocate for their intimate health. These concerns are often not openly discussed or addressed with the same urgency as men’s health issues, despite being equally important.
The reality is that as women age, many will face concerns related to their sexual organs, often suffering in silence.
You may have read about labiaplasty, a procedure that treats the inner labia or inner lips of the vulva, either surgically or non-surgically, to improve their appearance, reduce bulging in tight clothing, and/or eliminate pain associated with chafing. Most women have a vision of what they want their labia to look like, but no two individuals are alike. Therefore, we offer a wide range of treatment options for women seeking to improve their intimate appearance and function.
The Non-Surgical Labiaplasty
At Aayla, we often recommend non-surgical labiaplasty to our patients, utilizing innovative technology known as RF (Radiofrequency) ablation. RF waves penetrate deep into the vaginal tissue, delivering heat that strengthens the vaginal walls and muscles, while also building collagen and elastin. This RF energy can also be applied to the exterior of the vulva, visibly shrinking the labia minora and, if necessary, the labia majora. Multiple technologies may be used to enhance the results further.
The non-surgical option is best suited for women who do not have significant elongation or hanging of the labia, but would like an overall improvement in the aesthetic appearance of the vulva. It offers real, durable results with minimal downtime and minor discomfort.
Surgical Labiaplasty
As expected, surgical labiaplasty is reserved for patients with more pronounced or problematic labial tissue. During a consultation, we will discuss your specific needs because, while most women recognize that their labial tissue requires attention, they may sometimes overestimate the severity of the problem.
If surgery is indeed the best option, we will determine which method—wedge or trim—is most appropriate for your specific circumstances. The final decision often depends on the patient’s aesthetic goals.
The Bottom Line
Whether surgical or non-surgical, labiaplasty is highly effective in helping women achieve their desired results, whether the concern is physical, emotional, or purely aesthetic. We work closely with each patient to understand their goals and tailor a treatment plan that ensures we achieve them.
We encourage you to schedule a consultation with Dr. Taghechian to explore your labiaplasty options. Together, we’ll create a treatment plan that best suits your needs.
